    We are looking for The Senior Corporate Counsel who will advise on a wide range of employment law-related issues and is responsible for providing general corporate and legal analysis and advice relating to the Company’s risk management efforts and programs. This includes, among other areas, litigation and dispute resolution support, insurance management and review, participation in and support for the Company-wide risk management program and other corporate legal support as needed. The incumbent will act as a resource to others in the Legal and Compliance Department and will work closely with internal business clients on evaluation and management of significant disputes, engagement and oversight of outside counsel, guidance on human resources legal and compliance concerns, real estate, and other risk management issues.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide legal advice and counsel to key partners on various employment law issues including wage and hour, internal investigations, disciplinary actions, leaves of absence and accommodations, employee benefits and other substantive employment law areas;
    • Manage and advise on investigations and respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audits, and other employment-related inquiries;
    • Monitor and apprise Human Resources and other business partners on legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities and provide proactive, strategic advice on such matters;
    • Develop and deliver liability mitigation by advising various internal clients to proactively address and resolve potential disputes while providing risk management advice to business clients that support business objectives;
    • Participate in the Company’s internal risk management program and committee meetings;
    • Develop and enhance employment-related compliance processes, policies, and guidelines to minimize legal exposure;
    • Develop and conduct training and presentations on various employment law issues;
    • Manage insurance portfolio, claims, and renewals;
    • Assist in compliance related investigations;
    • Manage relationships with outside counsel and legal service providers; and
    • Take on additional assignments and responsibilities as needed.

     

    Qualifications

    • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in any US state or D.C.;
    • Minimum six (6) years of related experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department environment;
    • Exceptional business judgment, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical advice by balancing business needs with legal risks;
    • Litigation management experience;
    • Knowledge of business and corporate law and experience with commercial disputes;
    • Familiarity with legal issues relating to human resources, commercial litigation, and alternative dispute resolution;
    • Conscientious and detail-orientated;
    • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment;
    • Strong research and analytical skills;
    • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, including translating complex technical and legal issues;
    • Ability to manage and set priorities effectively;
    • History of being a team player and willingness to contribute wherever needed; and
    • Experience with healthcare companies or companies within another regulated industry is preferred but not required.
