The Security Engineer is responsible for the engineering and configuration of the security tools in the environment. The successful candidate will participate in the Security Engineering and Administration team to assist in the design and implementation of the security tools. Must have strong communication skills to be able to coordinate with other organizations, assist the user community, coordinate with vendors, and be able to adapt to a changing environment.



  • Maintain deployed security technologies providing accurate, detailed configurations, repeatable processes, all under change management control;
  • Develop processes that analyze data and produce accurate, meaningful, easily interpreted results based on user requirements and use cases;
  • Conduct product evaluations of security technologies as directed;
  • Develop product comparisons and detailed reports;
  • Make recommendations to management appropriate to an organizations needs and requirements;
  • Provide 2nd -level and 3rd – level troubleshooting support for security applications and appliances; and
  • Develop policies, procedures and standards that meet existing and newly developed policy and regulatory requirements including HI-Trust, HIPPA, SOX and PCI.



  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in the information security field;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Security Engineer with demonstrated hands-on experience with at least 3 of the Security Tools;
  • Demonstrated cyber incident handling experience to include the application of lessons learned;
  • In-depth experience reviewing integrating raw log files and performing data correlation/analysis, such as firewall, IDS, and system logs;
  • Experience utilizing, tuning and developing procedures for SIEM tools (SPLUNK, SolarWinds LEM);
  • Experience with Security Tools; Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools including; SourceFire, FireEye, Forcepoint (Websense), McAfee EPO, AMP, Umbrella, TrendMicro;
  • In-depth knowledge of current threat actors, techniques and trends in cyber security;
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to train, guide and mentor team members;
  • Experience with IPS/IDS and SIEM technologies;
  • Possession of industry certifications is preferred, examples include: CISSP, CEH, GCIH, GCIA or similar; and
  • Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
