The Director of Technology, Software Engineering is responsible for providing the architecture, technical design and delivery of software solutions in line with best practices for agile development and enterprise-scale software design; provide oversight for the output of the teams ensuring the highest quality software, transparency and predictability of releases, estimates and team velocity, and ensure adherence to the agile principles to facilitate customer value and time to market.

Responsibilities

  • Guide development team in developing and supporting 24x7 enterprise system;
  • Manage and coordinate staff required to fulfill Inovalon software engineering objectives;
  • Work with product and software engineering to establish a sustainable, efficient, and high quality Agile (Scrum) delivery pipeline;
  • Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge pertaining to Inovalon products and services to achieve product development goals;
  • Provide guidance in technology selection and design decisions supporting scalable, high-performance, and high-availability architecture;
  • Participate in development of strategic technology initiatives to identify opportunities for product and process enhancements that materialize into additional value for the Inovalon stakeholders;
  • Build and mentor your staff to facilitate skill development and career progression;
  • Coordinate and communicate with senior and executive leadership to ensure goals are met within budget;
  • Drive high degree of associate satisfaction and retention; and
  • Stays abreast of emerging industry technology, trends and best practices.

 

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in developing large-scale applications with at least 5 years in Java or C#; 
  • 7 years of leadership experience, coaching, developing and engaging software-engineers, software-architects and software-engineers-in-test;
  • 5 years of experience building responsive Single Page Web Applications using modern server and client side technologies such as, but not limited to: HTML 5, CSS, Bootstrap, Angular.js, Aurelia, React.js, Knockout, and Kendal UI;
  • 3 years of experience with one or more Agile software engineering practices such as Continuous Integration, automated unit tests, TDD, Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe framework;
  • Experience building large-scale distributed microservice-based applications in the cloud environment is preferred;
  • Strong understanding of architecture patterns and operational characteristics of highly available and scalable applications;
  • Experience with persisting data using MS SQL Server and NoSQL DBMS;
  • Passion for security and a strong understanding of threats, vulnerabilities and compliance standards;
  • Experience participating and leading code reviews, refactoring, gathering code quality metrics and measurements;
  • Exceptional written and oral communication, organization and time management skills;
  • Must be self-motivated, creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems;
  • Experience using source control tools – Microsoft Team Foundation Server and Github;
  • Bachelor degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related field.
