Inovalon is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to gather and deliver requirements for one of the world’s largest Healthcare Datasets, the Medical Outcomes Research for Effectiveness and Economics (MORE2) Registry. The ideal candidate is experienced working with medical data and has a good understanding of data structures and Healthcare standards. This person is a self-starter who is comfortable working with software engineering teams and business stakeholders daily. The Senior Business Analyst will work with stakeholders to understand the product vision, define and translate that vision into a series of deliverables, and coordinate and manage execution of the deliverables into the product.

  • Drive the definition of data specifications based on requirements, best practices, and industry medical data standards (FHIR, EDI, CPCDS, etc.)
  • Plan and design data integration strategies;
  • Identify and research anomalies and outliers in data. Identify problematic areas and conduct research to determine the best course of action to correct the data;
  • Participate in prioritizing the Product Backlog based on stakeholder feedback, market changes, and business priority;
  • Be responsible for supporting the product vision, translation of the vision into user stories, and definition of product requirements and acceptance criteria;
  • Work collaboratively with the Scrum team to accurately scope and estimate work across the team while being mindful of individual skillsets and capacity;
  • Be an active participant in scrum ceremonies such as daily standups, backlog grooming, and sprint planning
  • Act on and drive feature direction and acceptance criteria as provided by the overall Product Manager;
  • Manage feedback from initial launch to product life cycle/ enhancements post launch;
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to establish user personas, use cases, and analytics scenarios in support of requirements definition and justification to help inform the product vision;
  • Present results of analysis, data models, and other projects to senior management in a concise and professional manner;
  • Develop UI Mockups and Wireframes;
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement;
  • Always adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and
  • Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of a degree;
  • Healthcare industry experience required;
  • Experience working with medical data including industry standard data formats such as FHIR and EDI;
  • 4+ years of experience with product requirements and leading new product development efforts through the entire development lifecycle;
  • 2+ years of healthcare experience, ideally involving commercial claims and/or clinical data;
  • 1+ years of UI / UX Design;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability and willingness to roll up sleeves and help with support and data analysis tasks on an as needed basis;
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for learning new technologies;
  • Experience in data mapping, data cleaning, or ETL is a plus;
  • Technical understanding of the analytics and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, SQL databases and Data Warehouses) is a plus;
  • Experience in implementing Specific Agile principles such as SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban;
  • Experience in QA and UAT Testing;
  • Experience performing user interviews to understand market needs;
